When we arrived at the hospital, I was surprised to see Li Qiushu there. It turned out Feng Yuanzheng had called her and asked her to take care of Zhang Yan. Although I felt irritated that she had left Li Mazi alone, I didn’t say anything.

Senior Shu woke up. He was sitting up on his bed and drinking some soup; he still looked exhausted.

It was always like this in our business. Unless we were about to die, we wouldn’t be in a long coma. Most of the time, we would receive some internal wounds.

Zhang Yan hadn’t woken up yet. But with Feng Yuanzheng and Li Qiushu here, my mind was eased. I stayed with Senior Shu for a while then returned to the hotel to check on Li Mazi.

He was still sleeping. I saw that his window was untouched, so I returned to my room.

Li Mazi woke up the next morning. When he saw me, he embarrassedly scratched his head. “Little Brother Zhang, I didn’t mean to stab you. I couldn’t control myself.”

“It’s good that you’ve woken up.” I patted his shoulder. “What did you encounter?”

“After you took the cab and chased after her, I wanted to call you. But when I took out my phone, someone hit me from behind. I thought it was a cop. But when I turned around, I didn’t see anyone…”

Li Mazi was still fearful. It turned out he was possessed as soon as he left the police station. He couldn’t control his body and walked to Zhang Yan’s house. When he got there, Zhang Yan was quarreling with Feng Yuanzheng. While Feng Yuanzheng was trying to explain the iron swallow to his wife, Li Mazi inadvertently busted him.

Li Mazi got his sanity back right before Zhang Yan turned crazy and before she strangled Feng Yuanzheng.

It seemed Li Mazi also thought that Feng Yuanzheng was dead. I told him about the situation last night. At the same time, I had a few questions in my head.

The first question was: Li Mazi was possessed right in front of the police station, so who drove the car to lure us away?

The second question was: When Li Mazi came to the house, Zhang Yan was fighting with Feng Yuanzheng. But Li Mazi’s body was controlled by the spirit at that time. In other words, Zhang Yan was her true self! Why did she need to ask about the iron swallow?

Li Mazi wore a puzzled face and asked, “What’s wrong?”

I shook my head. “There’s something unclear here.” Then, we drove back to the hospital.

Senior Shu was still drinking soup, but Zhang Yan wasn’t in her room. Feng Yuanzheng and Li Qiushu were gone, too.

I put the lunchbox I had brought for him on the side table and asked, “Where are they?”

Senior Shu mysteriously whispered something to me, which stunned me. I only got a hold of myself after quite a long time. I couldn’t believe it. I wanted to confirm one more time. “Are you sure?”

Senior Shu nodded, then picked the lunchbox and began to eat. I thought for a moment and gave the iron swallow to Senior Shu. I then left with Li Mazi to the park in the suburbs.

Since there weren’t many people in the park, the dead birds on the grounds hadn’t been cleared; we could smell the stink. I pinched my nose and stayed quiet as I led the way. Li Mazi seemed to have a new edition of the “Ten Thousand Whys” book. He kept asking me what I wanted to do.

I couldn’t endure his pestering and let out a sigh. “We’re going to save Zhang Yan. Feng Yuanzheng and Li Qiushu will likely murder her!”

What Senior Shu whispered to me in the hospital was that he had figured out the strange relationship between Li Qiushu and Feng Yuanzheng. Before I arrived at the hospital, Li Qiushu had attempted to pinch the oxygen tube to suffocate Zhang Yan. However, she couldn’t do it because the doctor had come in to check on the patients.

At first, Senior Shu thought that it was only Liu Qiushu. But then, he noticed that Feng Yuanzheng had also looked at Zhang Yan with deep hatred in his eyes. He had murderous intentions!

Early this morning, Zhang Yan woke up and didn’t thank Li Qiushu. The three of them watched each other with hostility. Then, Zhang Yan was discharged from the hospital.

Feng Yuanzheng and Li Qiushu walked together. They left the room first. On the way to the door, Zhang Yan suddenly turned and talked to Senior Shu, who was pretending to be asleep at that time. “I know you’ve discovered everything. If you want to know the cause, come to the zoo tonight to watch the fun!”

“Holy moly, is this a love triangle?” Li Mazi blinked his small eyes. He spat, “I thought Li Qiushu was a good sister. I never thought that she was a nasty slut!”

I didn’t talk much and pulled him into the park to find a good place to watch. I saw Zhang Yan sitting on a rock. It looked as though she was waiting for someone.

She soon saw Li Mazi and me. She smiled, but her eyes didn’t. Then, she turned around and watched the entrance of the park as if nothing had happened.

“What does she want to do?” Li Mazi didn’t get it.

I thought and concluded that she wouldn’t deal with us. Firstly, she had invited us here to watch the fun. Secondly, even if she wanted to harm us, she didn’t have the power since the iron swallow was with Senior Shu.

Around half an hour later, Zhang Yan’s face darkened. I followed her line of sight and saw Feng Yuanzheng coming hand-in-hand with Li Qiushu.

Li Mazi got it now. Those two were having an affair. Li Mazi fumed, “Zhang Yan is attractive. Why does her husband want to go with someone else?”

I grabbed him and hid behind the rock in front of us as Zhang Yan wasn’t hostile toward us at this moment.

However, it didn’t mean that Feng Yuanzheng wanted us to know about his affair. Zhang Yan was his wife, but he had still schemed to kill her. Who knew what he would do to the two of us!

As they were approaching, Zhang Yan’s eyes reddened with tears. She spoke up with sobs. “You finally admit it. Did you get tired of concealing your affair?”

“Haha.” Li Qiusheng smiled disdainfully. Her face turned cold. “Don’t pretend to be a scared maiden! Don’t think that I didn’t know you wanted to use the iron swallow to harm me.”

Although I had thought about this possibility, I was still shocked. A real-life drama of marriage and affair was playing out right in front of me.

“Harm you?” Zhang Yan said through her gritted teeth. “What did I do to harm you? I just hated myself for being weak. I knew my husband had an affair with my bestie, and I always pretended that I didn’t know anything. I pretended because I didn’t have enough courage to expose you. I wanted to use the iron swallow because it made me strong!”

“If Yuanzheng wasn’t lucky, you would have killed him already!” Li Qiushu took a step forward and hissed at her.

Before Zhang Yan could react, she slapped and kicked her twice.

Feng Yuanzheng saw everything but didn’t stop his girlfriend. Li Mazi couldn’t stand it. He wanted to go there, but I hurriedly pulled him back. “Don’t rush in! This is evidence!”

Then, I took out my phone and adjusted the angle to record a video.

A moment later, Li Qiushu had stopped hitting the other woman. She gasped for her breath and rolled her eyes at Zhang Yan. Zhang Yan adjusted her clothes and rubbed her swelling face.

She looked at Feng Yuanzheng with tears in her eyes. “Zhao Feiyan wanted to kill you. I couldn’t stop her, so I decided to take action first. It would give you a chance to survive. It was me who saved you!” Then, she didn’t even glance at Li Qiushu and slowly left.

Feng Yuanzheng was bewildered. He looked hesitant.

Liu Qiushu burst out like a madwoman. She pulled him and shouted at him. “Yuanzheng, we have to kill her! Otherwise, she will return with that thing. She will torture us to death!”

When Li Qiushu talked, her face looked malicious. I disdained her. When we first met her, she pretended to be pitiful and told us about her aggrievance. Now, I wished I could slap that shrew to death!

Feng Yuanzheng looked at Zhang Yan then at Li Qiushu. Eventually, he clenched his jaw and took out a rope. He ran to Zhang Yan and started to strangle her from behind!
