《Otherworldly Merchant》Chapter 530: To Save or Not to Save?

Lu Ming tried to smile. “I’m okay.” Then, he remembered what I said. “My ancestor is in trouble?”
I nodded.
“I knew he was being plotted against!” As soon as Lu Ming knew that Lu Yu was in danger, he was stirred up. It was as if he had just received an energy boost. He pulled me and rushed toward the village.
Along the way there, Lu Ming told me that he heard the old man call him while he was sleeping. He saw the man wave at him. Instinctively, he walked toward him. When he came near, he recognized it was Mr. Big Mole. But before he could run, his surroundings changed.
Lu Ming knew he couldn’t escape, so he turned and looked at Mr. Big Mole, ready to risk his life if necessary. Unexpectedly, Mr. Big Mole didn’t want to fight him. He turned and left. Before he left he said, “I’m going to deal with that old man first. Then, it’ll be your turn…”
Lu Ming knew things had gone wrong at that time. Afterward, he asked me, “Are you sure you can deal with the thirty-six female ghosts?”
“What do you mean? Those female ghosts want to kill Lu Yu?” I halted and frowned.
Lu Ming nodded. “Since we are both fine and not in danger, only those thirty-six women could make my ancestor come out of the teapot.”
Even though the women had a deep love for Lu Yu, they had died with resentment. After one thousand years, their resentful energies had grown extremely powerful. If Mr. Big Mole wanted to pour oil into the fire by telling the women that Lu Yu wasn’t dead at that time, the women’s wrath would skyrocket!
Lu Yu wouldn’t be afraid of them. However, because of his guilty conscience, he could let them hurt him without fighting back…
I carefully considered the possibility and thought that even if I could deal with the thirty-six ghosts, Lu Yu wouldn’t allow me to hurt them. The only solution now was to find Mr. Big Mole before the women could take action. It was the only chance to awaken their love for Lu Yu.

“What do you have in mind?” Lu Ming sounded worried as I had kept silent.
I told him my idea. Then, I said, “Do you know where Mr. Big Mole is?”
“I thought that he lived in the village, but now…” Lu Ming shook his head. His face looked haggard. “Is there a different solution you can think of?”
“Let’s go to the scene to see,” I said helplessly. I had no hope now.
If Lu Yu wasn’t cruel to the girls, then no matter how hard I tried, it would be like talking to a person who didn’t want to live anymore.
When we reached the village, we saw wisps of purple Yin energy roll into a vortex. Lu Yu held a cane in his hand. He stood in the center of the vortex.
The female ghosts surrounded him. They were tearing his body. Lu Yu didn’t resist. He sighed. Tears rolled down his face.
The situation was exactly as I had imagined!
“Damn it! I’m going to risk my life!” When Lu Ming saw the scene, he seemed to have turned berserk instantly. His eyes turned red. Then, he roared and dashed forward.
His voice was really loud, so all the female ghosts turned around. I felt like there was a drum being hit inside my head. Luckily for us, the female ghosts kept their focus on Lu Yu. They just took a glance at us and then resumed their attacks on him.
I pulled Lu Ming and restrained him. Then, I slapped him.
“Can you behave? I’m not an immortal. I can’t save you from the claws of those thousand-year-old female ghosts!” I clenched my jaw.
After yelling at him, my nose felt a little sore. I’d been working on this case for half a month and this was going to be the ending. I felt somewhat lost.
Lu Ming smiled at me. His voice was strangely calm. “Master Zhang, I understand what you’re thinking. I’m going to get in there, but it’s not because of my impulsive intention.”

“What?” I was surprised.
He wanted to get in there to make the female ghosts attack him. Lu Yu could ignore his safety, but he wouldn’t neglect his descendant. The old man might attack the female ghosts to save Lu Ming, which would scare the female ghosts away.
It wasn’t a bad idea. However, it was too risky. If Lu Yu hesitated for a second, those ghosts would tear Lu Ming apart. I considered it and asked helplessly, “Is it worth risking your life to save a man who died more than one thousand years ago?”
“He’s my ancestor!” Lu Ming replied then patted my shoulder. “Master Zhang, I’ve transferred a little sum to you today. Please accept it as the payment. If I can’t escape, you should run.” He unbuttoned his suit and vest. Then, he dashed forward.
I had tears in my eyes. I had thought that Lu Ming was a timid man. I had never thought that he could be so manly.
As he charged forward, he bit the tip of his tongue and spat his blood out. The seven or eight ghosts closest to him screeched in pain.
Since Lu Ming’s soul was already weak, that was all his blood could do. Still, he had provoked the female ghosts. They screamed and jumped toward him. Lu Yu didn’t move. He acted as though he didn’t see anything.
My heart skipped a beat. Instinctively, I rushed in to save him. At the moment our lives were at stake, Lu Yu suddenly laughed.
His laughter sounded even sadder than a man’s cry. However, it proved that Lu Yu had made his choice. I exhaled and held the Peach Soul Flower tightly.
After Lu Yu laughed, his body emitted a dazzling silver light. This light swallowed the thirty-six ghosts’ purple Yin energy. A second later, all the ghosts stopped their attacks. They were still, just as if they were frozen.
I eased my mind and gave Lu Ming a thumbs-up. He smiled at me then kowtowed to Lu Yu three times. He asked the old man to leave with him.
Lu Yu looked at Lu Ming. Finally, he gave a kind smile. However, he didn’t move. His eyes shifted from Lu Ming to the female ghosts. Lu Ming wasn’t in danger anymore, which made Lu Yu hesitant.
It wasn’t good if we lingered like this. I looked at the spirit talisman in my hand and thought about using a talisman to subdue Lu Yu. No matter what, he was wounded and couldn’t escape.
However, before I could move, the situation changed again. The female ghosts started to shake as if they had received an electric shock.
I suddenly had a bad premonition. Indeed, the female ghosts soon regained control of their movements. The silver halo Lu Yu had created shattered into pieces, vanishing shortly after.
Lu Yu fell to the ground. At the same time, I heard someone screech. I was surprised. It was Mr. Big Mole’s voice! It turned out he was hiding nearby!

Sorcery in Boston
The timid daughter of some of the greatest spellcasters ever to have lived has found herself in another world, courtesy of magic gone awry. In Boston, Massachusetts, in the year 1935, she finds some kind souls in a hard era. In the heart of the Great Depression, as war looms around the corner, she seeks to find her place, and must come to terms with both who she is and what she truly desires. Author's Notes: Release Note: I recently realized what the hold up is. My current mental state is not compatible with the planned ending. If I wrote the ending according to what currently feels right, it will be a wretched, cruel ending that feels monstrously unfair and invalidates the work of the various characters... because that's how my life feels at the moment. The planned ending is coming out hollow and awkward, no matter how I write it, and so I've been bashing my head. I will finish it, once I manage to either brute force something decent out, or once my head gets screwed on straight. Audience: This story is not for young children - it contains some profanity, sexual content, violence, gore, and significant adult themes. Most of these are handled delicately enough not to upset teens or adults (hopefully), hence the lack of relevant tags, but it is nonetheless unsuitable for youth. It's fairly slow paced, and focused on the development of very human, very flawed individuals. Length / Completion Estimates: The outline currently involves two books. Book 1 is expected to be done with Chapter 43. It'll probably be completely finished by sometime in March of this year. I expect to move on to the far-more-lighthearted Of Gods and Dungeons (currently in progress / on hiatus). Afterwards, I may decide to redo Book 1, or write Book 2, or actually start sharing the story most dear to me, that I've been working on for several years now. Draft 1: Please be aware that this is first draft material. I do intend to come back to do a second draft after the story is complete. If anyone notices any issues whatsoever with the story, please let me know (pm, etc) so that I can improve the second draft. Writer's Pledge: I've taken the Writer's Pledge, meaning I'm commiting to completing this story. I'm a proud member of WriTE, a group dedicated to finishing stories. It will be done! Behind the Scenes notes: This picture was commissioned from an inked artist by the name of DanP. Up until the time of the protagonist's arrival, history has proceeded as before. Some places and characters have been borrowed from wikipedia entries of interesting figures from the time. I will make note in the chapter comments when such things come up. Naturally, I've taken a great deal of liberty with them. In interest of respecting individuals, I've either attempted to portray them as accurately as possible, or modified them sufficiently enough that they're simply an inspiration, instead of a real portrayal. I've attempted to be as accurate to the era as possible, but I'm not a historian. If you're aware of inaccuracies, please, bring them to my attention so that I can correct them.

Seeker
The Gods are dead As they bled dry, so did the magic which gave them birth. In the new era of technology, its pathetic remnants must hide in the shadows or be locked away. In the ancient era of magic two beings often stood out: Galileo, an immortal scholar obsessed with knowledge and Angelica, the most loyal servant of the greatest among the now dead Gods. But why are they worthy of mention? Because after millennia of isolation, the two emerge in the new world beyond their reckoning. The entire story is told from the third person, however, each chapter will be told from the perspective of only one of the characters. This will be signified by the first letter of their names after the chapter number to avoid confusion. I submitted this fiction as a [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] as well as a participant in National Novel Writing Month. The original challenge had been to finish this entire faction within the month of November reaching the 55.5k word minimum. This goal had been achieved. I do not own the cover picture

Magus Gravity
This is about a person who is summoned to a world to be a hero and save the human race from the demons, clich stuff, he will then make decisions that affect all of those around him(I think this is original). Also, he will not get all the """"females"""" out there in the other world and make a big harem that symbolizes how woman are treated as objects. Remember that this story is something I would like to read, and frankly most of the royal road stories are too damn lusty and filled with porn. But there will be some romance here and there since people get married and I need to talk about that too, so that is classed as romance right?
