《Heaven's Devourer》Chapter 1622: Overcome

Wu Yu got serious now. He knew that this Wu Yu was not easy to deal with. As expected of the Eternal Emperor Tomb.
He turned into the golden ape, and used Void Reversal to throw his opponent into the void world!
However, the mirror Wu Yu immediately used Somersault Cloud to escape from the void world. Wu Yu would not let him go. He gave chase, and then used crusader heavenly rule and Submerged Cloud Seal to blast the area where mirror Wu Yu had fled to!
Even the void itself was shattered by Submerged Cloud Seal. The mirror Wu Yu could only use Fulgurating Shadows over a small distance to avoid the majority of his Submerged Cloud Seal damage.
Submerged Cloud Seal managed to clip the replicate, but this scant bit of Submerged Cloud Seal power was unable to finish off the opponent. Wu Yu realized that the mirror image had also cultivated Invincible Vajra Body to the Eternal and Indomitable Vajra Realm realm!
"Even the Invincible Vajra Body?"
Wu Yu was growing more and more astonished by the moment. He began to test out his whole arsenal of skills.
Doppelganger heavenly rule, golden eyes heavenly rule, Lawful Embodiment of Heaven and Earth, Violent Art...... All of it could be replicated perfectly!
No matter what Mystique, no matter what heavenly rule, it could be executed by the mirror image with no discernible difference.
Even chronowarp heavenly rule - as their chronowarp heavenly rules overlapped, it seemed like no one stood any advantage at all. The flow of time around them remained unchanged.
This made Wu Yu grow more and more alarmed.
If they had the exact same moves, how the hell was he supposed to fight? Neither could win the other! Or rather, it would be too difficult to even get the fight going, since both could use Somersault Cloud.
Wu Yu's escaping abilities were superb. And now he was up against one with the exact same abilities. Neither could do much to the other.
If a truly fatal attack came, either would simply use Somersault Cloud to flee.
Wu Yu belatedly realized that he had no way of dealing with Somersault Cloud himself. Defeating the mirror-image Wu Yu would be too hard.
Once, Wu Yu managed to press an advantage and was on the verge of blasting his opponent full-on with golden eyes heavenly rule. However, mirror-image Wu Yu simply darted into one of the mirrors.

Following which, another mirror-image Wu Yu walked out of another mirror.
The new mirror-image Wu Yu was exactly the same as the previous mirror-image Wu Yu. He could use the same Mystiques and heavenly rules. Wu Yu was completely at a loss of what to do!
Of course, it was not easy for Wu Yu to be defeated either
Wu Yu and mirror-image Wu Yu continued a non-stop battle. Wu Yu turned into the Heaven Devouring Titanic Beast, and mirror-image Wu Yu followed suit.
This was a stalemate, plain as could be. Wu Yu felt like he could not kill his replicate at all.
Both understood their moves too well. Therefore, using these limited moves to defeat the other seemed impossible.
Wu Yu was sweating hard. This seemed to be an impossible situation, and he could not quell the frustration that was beginning to build within him.
He continued to employ various moves against mirror-image Wu Yu. Although he could occasionally score a hit, but he was unable to destroy the opponent.
Especially someone who also had the Invincible Vajra Body, which allowed one to heal especially quickly.
At the start, Wu Yu still had a measure of confidence.
Although he had never met with such a situation before, but he had thought to overcome it with the fighting will of the Great Sage, Heaven's Equal, the Victorious Fighting Buddha.
But as time ticked on, Wu Yu began to grow flustered.
Ever since Wu Yu had set foot in Graveguarding Palace, he had been plagued by all kinds of distracting emotions that grew out of the dangerous and seemingly impossible situations that he had been in.
And this was the worst of them so far.
Because when Wu Yu was out of battle, he could calm himself, and think coolly.
But now, Wu Yu was constantly fighting. He did not even have time to compose himself.
The moment he tried to rest, mirror-image Wu Yu would press forward and attack him.
Golden eyes heavenly rule, incandescent heavenly rule, doppelganger heavenly rule... Wu Yu had a taste of his own heavenly rule power now. He could feel how strong it was, exactly as his own was.
Chronowarp heavenly rule was also canceled out by the other's. Wu Yu did not give up, continuing to attack. His opponent too showed no signs of weakness, matching him blow for blow.

Even his one-use-limit moves were also usable by his opponent, and were meaningless for this battle.
Wu Yu threw himself ferociously into battle. But no matter what he did, he got like-for-like, and nothing came of his efforts.
Worse, his opponent used the mirrors to good effect, fleeing into one and out of the other. Wu Yu was harassed to no end. If he did not have the Somersault Cloud, he would have been dead many times over.
As he continued to tire out, the chances of Wu Yu winning dwindled away.
Wu Yu even tried to attack the mirrors, but they could not be smashed. At least, not with his current strength.
The two continued to fight tirelessly on. Wu Yu could feel that both were equally matched down to the last detail.
Both understood their Mystiques and timings equally. This showed that this mirror-image Wu Yu was him even in thought!
"How can such a thing exist in this world?"
Wu Yu gnashed his teeth. Left with no other choice, he had Wu Jun come out to help.
However, perhaps he should nto have. The moment Wu Jun flew out of the Floating Dreams Pagoda, another Primordial Immortal Dragon flew out of the mirrors to deal with him.
Wu Yu's eyes almost popped out of his skull.
"What the hell?" Wu Jun immediately began to fight mirror Wu Jun as well.
The two Primordial Immortal Dragons fought nearby. Curiously, mirror Wu Jun did not attack Wu Yu, and mirror-image Wu Yu completely ignored mirror Wu Jun as well.
Wu Yu began to wonder - could this be some sort of training?
Whoever came here would fight an exact replicate of themselves. They would not come with an answer of how to beat themselves, but doing so was the way to pass this test.
Wu Yu was full of questions.
Eternal Emperor Tomb, Graveguarding Palace - what in the world was this place?
At first he had thought it nothing more than a cemetery with the eternal demon emperor corpses within, and perhaps some defenses in place against trespassers.
But now it seemed to be something else entirely.
Just the things in the Graveguarding Palace had blown Wu Yu's mind many times.
If this was training, then what was the purpose of the Eternal Emperor Tomb's creator?
Wu Yu had no idea!
Besides, the images and reflections that appeared in the Eternal Emperor Tomb seemed to have been created by an ingenious hand. Wu Yu himself found that the battle will of mirror-image Wu Yu was exactly the same as him.
Every impulse to use a certain Mystique or heavenly rule was matched down to the T.
This was himself, through and through.
How was he to beat such an opponent?
Seeing that Wu Jun was of no help to him, Wu Yu sent him back to the Floating Dreams Pagoda. In response, mirror Wu Jun also vanished back into a mirror.
Only Wu Yu and mirror-image Wu Yu were left to continue the fight.
Driven insane, Wu Yu attacked mirror-image Wu Yu with all his might, and recieved the same in return. Both wore each other out for a full month. Wu Yu grew more and more reckless. He did not know what to do, or how to leave this place.
A year passed.
In this year, both continued to fight ceaselessly. Wu Yu felt that he was near empty now. He was bone-weary, but there was no place to rest here.
Wu Yu desperately wanted to rest, but mirror-image Wu Yu gave him no chance to do so.
He even tried sending out his 1 million doppelgangers to confuse the opponent, but the Eyes of Fire and Gold told all, and the reflection attacked his real body immediately.
Wu Yu had now fought for a full year without even a second of rest.
He wanted to run away, more than anything. He was tired, physically and even more so mentally. He had never gone for such a long period with no rest before.
Of course, most crucially of all was that Wu Yu could not see any way to win either.
Dispirited, Wu Yu's thinking was beginning to muddle. He fought mechanically against mirror-image Wu Yu, but was no longer thinking proactively.
He started to grow numb. He just wanted to run, to shrink away!
The continuous battle bore down on him like Atlas' burden. He could not hold out for much longer. He had gone berserk countless times, and each time had been unable to beat mirror-image Wu Yu.

Magnus
Updates daily at 23:06 UTC. 2/1/2021 NOTE! This trilogy is being published by Aethon Books starting with book one on 5/1/2021. All books have been removed from RoyalRoad. This story was posted on RR in its entirety before being removed. Magnus Cromwell kills for a living. He’s organized, professional, efficient. Like a machine. But when his family’s life is on the line? That’s something else. That calls for the kind of warm-blooded vengeance that scorches earth and summons tungsten rods from space, leaves a whole lot of melted flesh, and no one to tell the tale. It should've been a blue milk run. As by-the-book as it gets. With his sister Nina out safe and the opposition decimated by hypersonic gunfire, MC wondered where they got the guts to even try. Then something hits him. Lays him out cold, and leaves him waking up to a fantasyland with nothing but his armor and a half-written note to guide him. It's a strange place where even stranger predators eye him for their next meal. Where his life’s on a timer, and where the darkest horrors haunt his dreams, painting visions of death. There's no right day to mess with Magnus Cromwell. But the universe sure managed to pick the absolute worst one. --- - MC is stone-cold, strong(OP), and gets even stronger, but he'll still face his fair share of challenges, both internal and external. - LitRPG-lite. No stats and an unconventional system. Expect abilities and progressions, but there will only ever be a handful of them. - Science Fiction and Fantasy collide, with a touch of mystery, Lovecraft, and body horror. - Professionally painted art scenes! - This series is finished. A Huge thank you to RoyalRoader MikeWe for the banner, and to NoDragons for his help editing the synopsis. Hazelsong: A LitRPG Novel
Release Schedule: I will be moving to a set release schedule as of 1/1/2022. A new chapter will be released every Saturday at Noon EST. If I have time that week for a second chapter, I will leave a note on the Saturday chapter and post the second chapter on Sunday at Noon EST. An up to date character sheet for the MC Erik will also be posted on Sundays at 12:15 PM. If life happens and I am for some reason unable to write that week, I will post a blank chapter giving you an update on where I am with my writing. Saturday Noon EST: First weekly chapter Sunday Noon EST: Second weekly chapter (if I have the time) Sunday 12:15 EST: Updated character sheet Synopsis: Years after surviving a deadly accident, Erik struggles to come to terms with his painful disability. When offered the chance to playtest the world's first full immersion VRMMO, he wants nothing more than to retreat back into his secluded life, until he learns what Hazelsong really offers. An escape from the pain. Hazelsong is a world of magic and adventure, a place where friendships are formed, loot is won, and glory and fame are there for the taking. While the threats feel real and the stakes are always high, there is only one thing Erik is really in danger of. Forgetting which world is actually real. Story Themes: Hazelsong is a LitRPG novel that not only explores the fictional world of a realistic online fantasy realm but the life of a man suffering in silence from chronic pain and PTSD due to a significant physical injury and disability. Mental health is an important subject and we all know at least one person in our lives who has or is dealing with some form of mental illness. I plan on putting my best effort forward to represent these illnesses in a fair and accurate manner. Not as a cheap plot device to help make the protagonist more unique, but to help paint an accurate picture for those of us who have been lucky enough to not have to suffer in silence. About the Author: I am Ash Durra, general video game nerd and a connoisseur of fantasy and sci-fi of all shapes and sizes. Needless to say, I am not a professional author (B.S. and M.S. in Education, 8 years teaching). After really getting into LitRPG novels over the past several years, I found my way to Royal Road, which has inspired me to use my spare time to begin writing a story of my own creation. As this is a hobby, I am not writing and posting chapters on any kind of specific schedule at the moment, though my goal is to post on average 1-2 chapters a week. I am incredibly excited to share this story with others as I write it, and I look forward to any constructive feedback about how I can improve in my writing.
