《Heaven's Devourer》Chapter 1602: Wu Jun's Death

In the silent mist, the slightest disturbance would draw everyone's attention, their sensitivities heightened in the lack of vision.
As sounds of the intense battle reached Wu Yu's ears, he immediately headed in the direction.
The sounds were deceptively far, and Wu Yu took an unexpectedly long time to reach. And when he finally did, his heart was shattered.
A black ocean, the real body of Unending Crepuscular Sea. Perpetual World Tree, standing beside. The two had teamed up against the Primordial Immortal Dragon.
These two demonic emperors had taken the chance to deal with him before Wu Yu came to his rescue. The Primordial Immortal Dragon had been thoroughly smashed by heavenly rule power, and Wu Jun did not even have time to call for help before he passed.
Both Unending Crepuscular Sea and Perpetual World Tree were 9-heavens demon kings. Whether ganging up against Wu Jun or Wu Yu, they had energy to spare, and would not lose.
The moment Wu Yu and Wu Jun had split up, they had accepted the risk of this happening.
Wu Yu was heartbroken, his eyes turning wild as they stared at the broken body of the Primordial Immortal Dragon before him. It seared deeper and deeper into his mind, a brand of self-blame that burned into him.
Because Wu Jun coming to the Demon Immortal Realm, and coming into the Eternal Emperor Tomb - all of it was because of him.
If not for Wu Yu, Wu Jun would not have come here, would not have been attacked by Unending Crepuscular Sea and Perpetual World Tree, and would not have died!
Wu Jun was a respected senior, and he had helped Wu Yu a lot in the Primordial Immortal Empire. Even after matters had blown up, he had still stood by Wu Yu's side, and had even kept those eternal immortal emperors in the dark, coming with Wu Yu to Demon Immortal Realm......
Remembering his kindness brought hot tears to Wu Yu's eyes. He stared at Wu Jun's broken body, unable to accept the truth of it.
"NO!"
He bellowed. He wanted to rush over, to hurt them, to take revenge. He would send Unending Crepuscular Sea and Perpetual World Tree down to the netherworld in compensation.
But seeing him rush over, the two simply turned an icy gaze to him, and then vanished in the mists without a trace.

Wu Yu searched madly within the mists, but could not find them. The heavy mists stifled him, and he could not even trace his steps back to find the corpse of Wu Jun.
Wu Yu felt like he was drowning in self-abasement and guilt. He had let Wu Jun down.
But at this time, Full Moon of Nanshan's voice came to Wu Yu. "Old Wu, don't be too quick to beat yourself up. Think it through - has this really happened? It could just be an illusion of the fog!"
Full Moon of Nanshan's voice had helped Wu Yu regain some semblance of reason. He frowned slightly. Indeed, there had been something fishy about the whole sequence of events just now.
For example, Unending Crepuscular Sea and Perpetual World Tree should not have fled after seeing him. They should have turned to kill him after Wu Jun.
"They want the bronze gate keys that I have. How could they have retreated just like that?"
The more Wu Yu thought about it, the stranger it seemed. At least, Unending Crepuscular Sea and Perpetual World Tree seemed off. As for Wu Jun, he was a 9-heavens immortal king himself.
Even if surrounded by two 9-heavens demon kings, he should not have died without a word.
Wu Yu was starting to regret not checking with the Eyes of Fire and Gold. But the scene had indeed unsettled him greatly.
In any case, Full Moon of Nanshan's reminder helped Wu Yu to regain his feet, and to put the matter from his mind temporarily.
"It could very well just be another illusion of the mists, calculated to unsettle me!" Wu Yu decided.
"That's right. Nothing is for real in this cunning misty fart. Let's keep looking. Maybe we'll find other leads." Full Moon of Nanshan urged.
"Mm."
Wu Yu could only communicate with the people in the Floating Dreams Pagoda for now. That was the only source of help he was getting for now.
The rest was up to him.
By analyzing the situation, Wu Yu had come to some conclusions. The chances of Wu Jun being killed were rather low. More likely, it was an illusion created by the Eternal Emperor Tomb to mentally beat him down.
Thinking back to when two Wu Juns had appeared, it seemed like things were getting more and more dangerous.

Perhaps something even more dangerous would come next.
But Wu Yu would not shirk away.
He collected his feelings, suppressing his worries for Wu Jun. He continued to search in the mist.
After a few days, he had still not met anyone. Wu Jun and the other five demonic emperors had all vanished.
Perhaps the mist was too vast, and they had all separated long ago.
Wu Yu suddenly had an idea. In such times, his Unshackled Doppelganger Mystique was best. He immediately changed into the golden ape, and blew on his hairs. 1 million doppelgangers sprang forth into the mist!
The 1 million doppelgangers were ideal for plunging into the mysterious depths of the mists. And even if they met with danger, there was none to Wu Yu himself.
As the 1 million doppelgangers sprang away, Wu Yu's search area was greatly enhanced. He could feel their presence and location, and so Wu Yu's spatial awareness was greatly extended.
Of course, each clone only saw endless mist and nothing else. But at least, Wu Yu now knew that there was no danger in his immediate vicinity.
"This misty area is way too huge!"
After half a month, Wu Yu burst out, frowning. Even with 1 million doppelgangers working on his behalf, he was unable to properly map out the Eternal Emperor Tomb. It was like combing the sea for a needle.
In this half a month, he had seen nothing but fog, and was starting to doubt if the doppelgangers were a truly effective way of searching.
But at this time, one of his clones stumbled upon something. It was the silhouette of a grave, hidden deep in the mists.
Wu Yu immediately halted that clone, and then he himself headed over.
They were quite far apart, and Wu Yu needed a few days' time at full speed to reach. Also, even if the clone had reached unharmed, this did not guarantee that Wu Yu could safely make his way over.
There might be dangers lurking that would only respond to lifeforms and true forms, but not to clones.
However, Wu Yu himself managed to reach safely after a few days.
In those few days, Wu Yu had all of the nearby clones hasten over to scout the situation. He found no danger nearby. He also could vaguely make out that it was probably the Grave of Lifeless Eternal Demon Emperor.
This was the first grave he had found in the mists. Of course he took it seriously!
He first sent clones to scout the tomb for dangers. Best to play it safe - he had found this grave with so much difficulty, and it was highly likely that more traps awaited.
As his clones approached, Wu Yu saw a flash of silver light, and blades whistled out from the grave, slashing his clones to bits!
"That's... the same as the Maelstrom Silver Dagger Sphere!"
Wu Yu immediately recalled where he had seen the silver daggers before.
It was on the Great Void Immortal Path, when he had been fighting for the 10th Grade Mark of an Immortal King. The Maelstrom Silver Dagger Sphere had been one of the epochal immortal designs that the Jade Emperor had personally created!
An epochal immortal design was the highest tier of immortal designs. While Wu Yu had been in hell, he had been completely unable to resist the Maelstrom Silver Dagger Sphere. He would have died without question against these.
But now he could afford to give it a try. Although the chances of succeeding might be slim, but he could at least flee if needed.
Therefore, Wu Yu had his clones secure a perimeter, while he himself inched closer to the Grave of Lifeless Eternal Demon Emperor.
"This Maelstrom Silver Dagger Sphere seems much more savage."
Wu Yu recalled how the epochal immortal design in hell had been more forgiving. But this time, they came furiously slashing at him!
Even if he had cultivated the Eternal and Indomitable Vajra Realm, he could barely make it 10 li into the maelstrom of silver daggers, before he had to retreat out.
When he backed away, the silver daggers no longer attacked him. But he had no way of approaching the Grave of Lifeless Eternal Demon Emperor.
Wu Yu was stumped for the moment, unsure of how to proceed. In any case, he had to recuperate for now. The Maelstrom Silver Dagger Sphere had injured him quite badly, and he needed some time to recover.
But just at this moment, his clone alerted him that someone was approaching!
