《Ranker's Return》Chapter 29

The bomb that Hyeonu threw was a nuclear bomb. It bombed the chat room. The chat room was in shock.
-What did he just say just now? Did I hear incorrectly?
- ㄴㄴ It seems like you heard it well. It is a solo raid today.
- ㅁㅊㄷㅁㅊㅇ Isn’t this something no one else has done?
-Successful Raid has gifted you 99 gold coins.
- ㅁㅊㄷㅁㅊㅇ has gifted you 99 gold coins.
“Thank you for the gold coins. Hahat!” Hyeonu showed a small but intense reaction to the gold coins pouring in. “Additionally, I’m going to be hunting the boss later. I hope you don’t give me gold coins during that time because I won’t be able to see the boss.”
He bowed toward the viewers.
“I would be grateful if you give everything after I have caught the boss. For people who are watching for my reactions, I’m sorry if I can’t do too much. I also don’t think I will be able to chat.”
Hyeonu turned off the chat room after saying this. Now was the time to focus on the raid. Hyeonu stepped toward the home of the huge guy he found yesterday.
***
It had been overwhelming at first sight. He had learned from the status message that it was a variant desert dragon. It was literally a sub-type of a dragon. Nevertheless, Hyeonu was confident. Of course, he couldn’t hunt it in one blow like a goblin. If he could, he would be the strongest in Arena. Still, it was now possible for him to hunt it.
‘The damage is enough if I use Magic Power Control.’
“Everyone, it’s that guy. Isn’t it huge? Still, don’t worry. In a few hours, it will be lying on the floor in a terrible state.”
‘It has a circle on its back as well.’
Hyeonu summoned Tang-E and received the buffs.
[You have received Bear’s Momentum.]
[Physique has increased.]
[Strength has increased.]
[You have received the Forest’s Blessing.]
[Defense has increased.]
[Health will continue to recover.]
His body tensed up as he gathered all his strength.
“I will start!” Hyeonu shouted those words without knowing who he was talking to.
[Master of Combat is activated.]
[Your stats have increased.]
[The stat ‘fighting energy’ has caused your stats to rise.]
[The other party is stronger than you.]
[There will be an additional increase in stats.]
‘Now!’
The moment the desert dragon took a deep breath, Hyeonu released his tension. Hyeonu’s movements were like a flash of lightning. The beginning was the Crescent Moon Cut. The three-meter-long blue beam of energy flew toward the desert dragon.
“Kuooh!” The cries of the desert dragon rang out everywhere along with a huge explosion. Hyeonu had already stepped on the desert dragon’s body and landed on its back. He thrust his single-edged sword into the white spot he noticed earlier.

‘From now on, it is starting for real.’
The desert dragon was attacked on its reverse scale and started to go crazy. From now on, it was clear that he would be logged out the moment he was hit even once. Hyeonu’s concentration gradually increased.
***
There wasn’t a single comment in the chat window since Hyeonu started his solo raid. Hyeonu hadn’t banned them from chatting. The tens of thousands of viewers were just focused on Hyeonu. Hyeonu’s movements were phenomenal to this extent.
-Wow... It doesn’t make sense.
-A solo raid... Who is capable of this?
-If he succeeds, the one with the best control in Arena will be Alley Leader.
At this moment, Hyeonu was in a crisis. The desert dragon used Breath. It had a trajectory that would cover all the routes Hyeonu could move to. In the eyes of the audience, Hyeonu would be directly hit by Breath.
In an instant, Hyeonu’s point of view changed.
Hyeonu was a monster streamer born out of capitalism.
***
He instinctively selected to change the point of view when the desert dragon let out the Breath. Hyeonu didn’t know why. He just felt like he had to do it.
‘Phew, I thought I was going to die.’
He naturally escaped the Breath. It was because Hyeonu induced the desert dragon to use Breath. Hyeonu’s goal was shortly after the desert dragon used Breath.
‘This is the other big weakness.’
The desert lizard’s most vulnerable moment was after using a Breath. The moment it breathed out without any vigilance for five seconds was when Hyeonu resumed the battle. By the time the desert dragon noticed something and moved, Hyeonu had already climbed onto its back. The blue light once again dug into the desert dragon’s reverse scale. It ripped open the original sword wound that Hyung had dealt.
“Kyao!”
The desert dragon’s front paws moved quickly. It was to hit the human, that was dealing pain to it, like swatting a fly. Hyeonu swung his single-edged sword to stop the attack of the dragon’s forefoot. It was just that the Giant skills were gone, and Hyeonu’s strength was no longer comparable to that of the desert dragon.
Hyeonu was forcefully thrown back several meters. He stood straight up and held his posture. However, the desert dragon’s massive appearance already appeared before Hyeonu’s eyes. The desert dragon was roaring when a sound rang out from somewhere.
“Master dude! Now!” Tang-E had fired lightning. Tang-E’s magic power was sufficient to inflict a blow on this guy. In particular, it would be a critical hit when aimed at the reverse scale.
‘Now it feels like the old days.’
Hyeonu was able to breathe once Tang-E joined in. From now on, he wouldn’t be able to borrow the strength of his past experiences. It was time to carve out a new path. He had to hit the dragon using everything in his body without any reservation. This would be the starting point for the raid’s success.

It had been three hours since the desert dragon raid began. Even so, neither the party doing the raid nor the viewers who were watching felt it.
-Wow! Three hours have passed already.
-The time machine is working properly.
-I’m tired just from hunting for three hours. I might vomit if I had to fight for three hours continuously.
This moment was the highlight and the climax. It wasn’t an intense and dramatic scene. Hyeonu just had an opportunity to end the battle that lasted for three hours. The desert dragon was finally exhausted. The past three hours of fighting left huge injuries on the desert dragon. It reached the point where the reverse scale was hard to see and the desert dragon’s entire body was torn apart by Hyeonu’s single-edged sword.
“Tang-E!” Hyeonu urgently called out to Tang-E. He couldn’t miss this opportunity.
“Understood!” Tang-E’s lightning flew into the tattered reverse scales.
“Kiyaaak!” This was the dragon’s first ferocious cry. It was the howl of a pain-afflicted beast. At this moment, Hyeonu flew forth in the form of a ray of light, scraping up all the remaining magic power in his body.
‘This...’
“It is the end!”
Hyeonu’s sword flew toward the desert dragon’s neck. The moment the desert dragon’s neck was hit, a giant blue light emerged. This was the Crescent Moon Cut. It was larger than its initial size and had little difficulty cutting off the desert dragon’s neck.
Now, it was the end of over three hours of fighting.
***
[A variant desert dragon has been killed.]
[Experience has been acquired.]
[You have leveled up.]
[All health and magic power have been restored.]
[You have leveled up.]
[All health and magic power have been restored.]
[You have leveled up.]
[All health and magic power have been restored.]
[Your fighting energy stat has increased by 10.]
[The title ‘Solo Raider’ has been created.]
[The title ‘Desert Dragon Slayer’ has been created.]
[The skill proficiency of Weapons Mastery has increased to D.]
[The skill proficiency of Crescent Moon Cut has increased to F+.]
The desert dragon left a lot for Hyeonu. It generously gave him three levels, skill proficiency increases, and even a title. However, there was more.
[Desert Dragon’s Essence]
[-A bracelet made by gathering everything from the desert dragon.
Rating: Unique
Restrictions: Desert Dragon Slayer
Effect: Magic Power +100, Physique +100, ‘Fire Breath’ is available (Cooldown Time: 24 hours.)]
“A unique item?” Hyeonu muttered as he forgot he was streaming. The viewers heard these words and exploded with curiosity. However, there was no chat window in front of Hyeonu’s eyes.
-Ah, Alley Leader! Aren’t you looking at the chat?
-I’m dizzy!!! Look at the chat!!!
Hyeonu spent a long time checking his skills and titles and only remembered he was on air after 15 minutes. “I’m sorry. I forgot that I was broadcasting. The chat has been turned back on.”
-I was dying from frustration.
- ㄹㅇ Praise Alley Leader. This isn’t the fighting power of a human.
-1 Alley Leader = 1 Desert Dragon.
-Gold Coins Flowing has gifted you 99 gold coins.
The chat room was rejuvenated the moment Hyeonu turned it on. Then gold coins started to pour in. It was like a cannon celebrating Hyeonu’s raid success.
-Good at it Alone has given you 999 gold coins.
-Today’s Video has gifted you 999 gold coins.
“Thank you for the gold coins. I will buy items and skills with this and show you many other things.” Hyeonu bowed his head at the bomb of gold coins. Then there was one thing that caught Hyeonu’s eyes.
-Alley Leader-nim, where did you get Crescent Moon Cut?
“Crescent Moon Cut was received after clearing a quest. I didn’t get it from the random skill book like everyone else.”
Hyeonu talked with the audience for around 30 minutes afterward.
“I hope you enjoyed it. I’ll end the streaming here today, and I’ll see you next time.”
Hyeonu’s second streaming was over. The result was a great success.
***
Hyeonu’s great challenge received a lot of attention. It was a different sort of interesting compared to his other videos so far. This live stream started to attract attention not only from A-World but also the big broadcasters involved in Arena. As they became more interested in Hyeonu, the large guilds contracted with existing broadcast channels were bound to become more vigilant, jealous, and filled with the desire to keep Hyeonu in check.
However, some people weren’t affected.
“Junggu, is this the end?”
Gang Junggu replied to Kim Seokjung’s question, “Yes Hyung-nim. All we have to do now is kill the black magicians.”
“By the way, I heard that the Phoenix members are often seen at Ella Fortress these days? What’s going on?”
“It looks like they are working on a magic tower scenario. It will eventually overlap just like last time.”
“Really?” Kim Seokjung was troubled by Gang Junggu’s words. It was clear that he was considering the value of the Phoenix Guild. Should he discard them or take them?
‘Numbers will be important when it comes to a fight against black magicians.’
“Let’s do it together this time, Junggu. It is too big to share anyway.”
“I understand.”
Kim Seokjung decided to join hands with the Phoenix Guild. It was because he thought this scenario was a serious one.
“I don’t know what that little brother is doing. It was fun when doing the quest together.”

8 199Ph. D. In Sorcery
Follow Anastasia, the unlucky physicist turned wizard, as her reality gets turned upside down and she is plunged into a world of gods, magic, swords, and adventure. Short and sweet description, anything more would be a spoiler and I detest those. Now, what you can expect from reading: This is my first time writing, or better said allowing someone else to read that mess so don’t raise your expectations too much. Still, I will try to keep the story flowing, while also devoting as much time as I can to editing. In my opinion, the story is written at a faster pace than normal with time skips here and there. I will do my best to not allow the faster pace to ruin the story by using those time skips to raise the skill of the main character. I am mainly looking for feedback while I test myself in new and unexplored waters. I did put a lot of thought into worldbuilding and the magic system, it is something that has been mulling inside my head for years before I sat down to write anything down. First and foremost I am an engineer and not a writer. I will try to do my utmost to make the world logical and consistent, but sometimes I might not express that in a way that’s clearly understood. I have a rough outline with several possible endings, but the story will change and evolve as I do. But in case I have to stop for whatever reason, the story will get an ending. It will be done even if I have to send coded messages from a bunker. I am a big fan of the Dresden Files so you can be certain that everything mentioned will in most cases be used, with a few red herrings sprinkled in the mix. But that also means I will enjoy putting the main character through the meat grinder while I eat popcorn and laugh from my evil lair. Physics, and to be more precise electromagnetism, quantum field theory, general and special relativity are very interesting topics for me that I research in my spare time. That means that the premise of the story will be using that research to bring logic to magic. Stupid I know, magic is magic, but to me, there is no reason why there shouldn’t be a concrete set of rules there. But it is still magic and that allows me to play with some things that shouldn’t normally be possible. I will focus on evolving the main character and having her react as anyone normal would, from my perspective. There will be scenes of battle, gore, and sexy times, but I will not go into too many details, counting on your imagination to fill the gaps. There will be plenty of combat, even battles ranging from a few dozen, a hundred, and thousands of participants. I could go on but there isn’t much to say that would convince anyone to read, either you thought the title was cool or you liked the poster. Or not, but after several days in photoshop, that’s the best I could do. And the title was originally Sorceress with a Ph.D. The new one makes a little less sense but I like the ring of it more for some reason. I just hope someone enjoys what I write as much as I do. In the end that is the reason, I am doing this, because I enjoy putting my thoughts on paper and seeing the outcome. Credit for the art: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/e0o8nw

8 260The Garbage Man
2021/10/20 - Taking this down for a complete rewrite. I like the plot but the writing on the first attempt is... Garbage :/ Jack was just waiting for the storm to pass. It wouldn't. What it did was take him on the journey of a lifetime. A lot of lifetimes, in fact. This is a cultivation/wuxia story at its core. May contain young masters, martial arts and magic. * 14/08/2020 - Rough editing done on the published chapters, hooray! Now to resume normal - edited! - releases.
