《VRMMO: The Unrivaled》Chapter 1038: Temple Guard

Swhoosh!
A sword flash tore through three low-health Cyan Tiger Cavalrymen and dropped them to the ground. It was Giant Buck Cavalry using an AoE skill.
Neither Gui Guzi nor Li Chengfeng would stand for it.
"Fucker!"
Lowering his Spear of the Knight God to his sides, Gui Guzi charged the killer directly and sent him staggering to the back. Then, he brought his spear upward, slashed him across the chest and drew a shower of blood. At the sametime, Li Chengfeng rode past the Giant Buck Cavalry and swung his Dark Blade across the rider’s neck, dealing over 100k damage and one-shotting him immediately.
On the other side, High Fighting Spirits was shouting like a berserker and executing Xiezhi Howl, blowing 20 or so Giant Buck Cavalrymen into the air before tearing them to pieces. Ever since High Fighting Spirits had improved, his Xiezhi Howl had been doing more and more damage.
"Die!"
A Giant Buck Cavalryman yelled as he trapped High Fighting Spirits with Trapping Net, but before he could make another move, a Chinese girl suddenly rammed into him and sent him staggering. She was none other than Chaos Moon. Triple Slash and a Rock Crush later, the Giant Buck Cavalryman died just like that. They didn’t even belong in the same weight class.
Xu Yang was charging and cutting down enemies left and right in an unstoppable fashion. Some time later, he waved his arm and used his Famous General Skill, Fire God!
Whoosh!
A large section of the ground immediately burst into flames, causing the Giant Buck Cavalrymen standing on top of it to scream in pain and back off. Before they could escape out of range, Du Thirteen immediately unleashed his Famous General Skill, Poseidon, behind the riders and trapped them between a rock and a hard place.
……
He Yi used to be just the guild leader of Ancient Sword Dreaming Souls, but now she was a core general of our fighting force as well. She dealt an insane amount of AoE and splash damage every time her Seven Star Veluriyam Spear swept across the enemies. A shocked and angry Giant Buck Cavalryman cried out to his allies, "That Chinese knightress is incredibly powerful! Focus her down now! Barrier Break her to death!"
Like an immovable rock, He Yi stood where she was and swung her spear back and forth like a fan. Amazingly, no one was able to survive her firepower long enough to reach her. She was showing everyone just how deadly Godslaying Blade was in her hands.
Our Dragonlight Cavalry was fighting super well under the leadership of our Famous Generals and Divine Generals as well. Also, we hadn’t fought outside of the range of the Bloodfiend War Drums, so we lost far less people than the enemies did.
In just half an hour, the guild leader of Asuka Period, Shogunate, was stunned by the sea of dead Giant Buck Cavalrymen before him. He said in a trembling voice, "How… how is this possible? The casualty ratio isn’t even 8:1! How!? Are these Chinese cavalrymen even human?"

It wasn’t that the Giant Buck Cavalry were weak. Their biggest mistake was choosing Ancient Sword Dreaming Souls as their first target!
Behind him, Copper Spear shouted, "Shogunate, you idiot, there’s no way your fragile Giant Buck Cavalry can go up against China’s number one cavalry head-on! Just withdraw and let my Fiery Scale Cavalry fight the enemy instead!"
"Mn, okay!"
The Giant Buck Cavalry disengaged and ran away so that the tens of thousands of Fiery Scale Cavalrymen behind them could charge us unimpeded. The Fiery Scale Cavalry enjoyed a buff called Fiery Scale that increased their Defense by 40% and their Attack by 10%. No wonder Copper Spear had acted as arrogant as he did and commanded his Fiery Scale Cavalry to charge us.
"Halt!"
Worried about the damage the Fiery Scale Cavalry might be able to do to the Dragonlight Cavalry, I stopped my men from rushing ahead any further before ordering, "Stay where you are and use Guard!"
Everyone nodded and did as I said. By now, the Fiery Scale Cavalry was just 50 yards away from us. I barked out my next order after everyone was ready, "Now, release your Ghost Chariots and attack the enemy with Ghost Chariot Slash! Magic knights, disrupt their formation with Trapping Nets!"
The order was completed in just a moment. This wasn’t the first time we did this both in practice and in real combat.
Swhoosh swhoosh swhoosh...
After the Ghost Chariots had emerged from their respective hexagrams, they flew straight toward the Fiery Scale Cavalry, spun like a top and cut into the enemy’s armor with their sharp, bladed tips. Ghost Chariot Slash was an AoE skill that largely ignored the enemy’s Defense, and several thousand of them activating at once was something not even our Dragonlight Cavalry would ever want to face!
Nearly a thousand Fiery Scale Cavalrymen screamed and dropped dead immediately. Those who survived long enough to make it to our Dragonlight Cavalry were immediately treated to a Trapping Net to the face. Unable to move, all they managed to do was trip over their allies and make them trample over each other.
Seeing that the time was right, I raised the Purple Ying Sword and shouted, "Kill!"
We countercharged the enemy. I bet that the latter felt a chill of fear coming from the bottom of their hearts.
Bang bang bang!
To be honest, the sounds of horses slamming into one another with blades and spear burrowing into the flesh were rather unbearable to hear. However, this was war, and some revulsion was to be expected!
Beiming Xue’s Dragonlight Archers also appeared at our flanks and loosed a continuous volley of Skypiercers at the Giant Buck Cavalry. The enemy died like flies to their firepower.
Several Giant Buck Cavalry corps commanders dispatched a couple ten thousand Giant Buck Cavalry after them, but they didn’t know that Beiming Xue’s hit-and-run tactic had practically been perfected at this point. It took the Dragonlight Archers just a couple of skills with the Far Shot mode on and good positioning to kite the enemy cavalry while dealing heavy damage to them. The power gap between the two cavalry troops was already gigantic to begin with, but the Bloodfiend War Drum widened it even further.

……
The entire plain was embroiled in battle, and Snowy Cathaya’s Kui Dragon Cavalry and Purple Dragon Cavalry weren’t idle as a matter of course. They hacked and slashed at the enemy with impunity because no one seemed to possess the power to stop them. Vanished God City’s Baidicheng and Blazing Hot Lips, and Wind City’s Purple Lily were doing just as well. While the main cavalry was keeping the enemy at bay, the ranged parties commanded by Luo River God of the Capital herself were putting out an insane amount of firepower with Touches of the Dragonkiss, Galaxy Storms and more. They made life hell for the riders of Purple Grape City.
Hot and Sour Noodles was the supreme commander of our army, and he was barking orders left and right, "Ancient Sword, attack the left wing! Snowy Cathaya, attack the right wing! Peach Garden, stab into the enemy’s flank from the right side! Blazing Hot Lips, surround the enemy from behind and split up their forces! We’re going to bury their millions of elite cavalrymen before the day is over!"
……
I was deep behind the enemy lines more than anyone else with only the Phantom Wolf King by my side. The Purple Ying Sword’s 50% splash effect was just that amazing, and both my Kill Points and my Divine Energy Points kept rising. To avoid wasting my Divine Energy Points, I kept Great Earth Transformation active and spammed Ancient Seals before it could top out. And of course, on a tactical scale, there was nothing more important than earning contribution points!
I took a moment to check out China’s Nation War Leaderboard. Everyone at the top was a familiar face—

……
It was all mages and archers besides mounted Divine Generals. For obvious reasons, bards, tacticians, assassins, tamers and other classes couldn’t really get a good result in a leaderboard like this. Even the assassin and Divine General, Farewell Song, could only hold his spot at the 11th place.
The war of Purple Grape City was clearly a lot bigger than the one at Dawn City. After all, it was a virtual war that involved China, Japan and India, and everyone was a lot stronger than they were before. If I could maintain my spot on the contribution point leaderboard, I was certain that the reward would be a Divine Armament at least!
Excitement growing, I let out a silly laugh and fought even harder.
Some distance away, He Yi and Chaos Moon glanced at me at the same time before the latter said, "I think he’s going crazy from all the killing he’s done."
He Yi giggled. "Maybe."
Chaos Moon asked, "Say, it’s been a couple of days since you saw Lu Chen, right? Do you miss him?"
Eve turned red in the face and slowed down just enough for a couple of Giant Buck Cavalrymen to Barrier Break her. Gui Guzi hurriedly came to her rescue and killed them all before glaring at Chaos Moon. "What the fuck, Chaos Moon! Don’t distract our guild leader in the middle of a fight!"
Chaos Moon puffed up her wholesome chest and said smilingly, "Aiyo, sounds like someone’s jealous!"
Gui Guzi’s glare turned into confusion. "Jealous? What exactly should I be jealous about?"
"How should I know? I’m not you!"
Gui Guzi: "..."
……
While fighting, I side-eyed the Ancient Divine Dragon coiled around my arm. It had been many days since the little thing awakened, and because Nation War didn’t yield experience it wasn’t able to grow up at all. It annoyed me every time I thought about it. Purple Grape City had declared war so soon that I had no time to level it up to the adult stage at all. If I had just a day or two, I would’ve been able to grind an S Rank instance and fulfill its requirements already. I could only imagine how amazing it was to ride an Ancient Divine Dragon. At the very least, my ability to kill enemies and date girls would skyrocket like never before. A dragon knight riding a normal dragon was nothing special, but a dragon knight riding an eastern divine dragon? Now that was a completely different story!
Suddenly, the system rang four times in a row—

He'd been drumming all night. tl;dr-- System eats world -- Monsters and magic ---- LitRpg -- Practice, not levels and stats ---- MC Bard -- support class -- low power ---- MC chooses music over survival skills --tl;dr Kevin trips into the Internal Strength Dimension where Thaumaturgy is king. With the help of a talking plant and several vicious monkeys he learns that the rule is "Change or die." Kevin changes, but remains firmly a drummer/Bard in this high fantasy setting. This is Kevin's adventure, and that of the friends he meets. Kevin has the soul of a real musician. He loves music, specifically rhythm and drumming, and would give his left nut if it would help him drum better. He's a rock drummer, and his language is that of a rock drummer: slanged, duded, and frequently laced with profanity. He focuses on music, and makes decisions that even the author doesn't approve of. However, that means all his decisions are Kevin's decisions, not those of a system-optimizing power-gamer. There's points (All of Arc 2) where he wanders aimlessly. Goals seem foreign to him at points. What would you do if you were a musician, and the world fell apart and you no longer had an audience or band-mates. You'd be kinda lost. Kevin is. Arc 2 is a lot of Kevin not knowing what to do, going with the flow, and not being articulate enough to know that he doesn't know what to do. 1.
