I was overjoyed when shock filled Vienna’s Sorrow’s eyes. Without a second to lose, my left arm exploded out and knocked his sword aside with a loud clang. A swirl of indigo energy appeared on the tip of my sword as I unleashed Universe Break at him. The Cyan Netherworld Sword pierced through his armor easily and drilled into his flesh!

As my sword pierced through Vienna’s Sorrow’s armor, a purple arrow hit him smack on his head about 0.5 seconds later. Alright! It was Beiming Xue’s Bone Eroding Arrow which reduced Vienna’s Sorrow’s Defense by 50%. Our synergy was truly flawless!

As shock overtook Vienna’s Sorrow, I took advantage of this opening and unleashed my highest-damage attack—Burning Blade Slash!

Three blazing crescent waves were shot out of my sword, hitting Vienna’s Sorrow squarely on his back. His mount wailed out in pain and moved away from me instantly as three shocking damage numbers popped up from his head. Vienna’s Sorrow turned pale but managed to land a hit on my shoulder. His goat let out a painful wail and he retreated swiftly after landing a hit on me. I waved a hand and laughed heartily. “Vienna! You’re done for!”

Four divine weapons fell from the sky and thrusted into the ground, surrounding Vienna’s Sorrow. Lighting then erupted from the four swords, instantly binding him to the spot.

Even a god would not be able to escape from God Binding Art. Let alone someone like Vienna’s Sorrow, a mere human expert in the Earthfire Realm.

“Protect Vienna! Quickly! Everyone, protect Vienna!” A magic knight wielding a spear shouted angrily as he charged toward me. Like Vienna’s Sorrow, he had a crimson flag on his back. Both of them were Heroic Bannermen. Their guild must be similar to Candle Dragon in this regard, with the leader and his generals all being “Hall of Famers” of their country.

Broken Feather Arrow’s effect only lasted for ten seconds!

My mind was calm and my train of thought was clear. We were left with three seconds, but that was more than enough!

I held up my arm and blocked the attack of that magic knight. I then raised my right hand and unleashed Dragon Slaying Slash before activating Sword Boomerang. As I hurled my Cyan Netherworld Sword out, it started spinning like a boomerang and tore through a group of enemies!

A beautiful succubi archer on the edge of the ramparts, pulled her bow and shot twelve-arrow Evil Spirit Volley straight at him for good measure. Vienna’s Sorrow would never be able to escape death this time!

At this moment however, that magic knight before me stretched out his hand and yelled, “Earth’s Protection!”

A ray of light appeared between him and Vienna’s Sorrow, connecting the two of them together. The damage that had been dealt to Vienna’s Sorrow had been instantly transferred to that magic knight! That Dark Guardian Angel from the Hall of Immortality had used a similar skill once, but I hadn’t expected someone to use a variant of this skill to save Vienna’s Sorrow!

When we take down Dawn City, I vow to massacre everyone!’

My sword flickered as I unleashed three basic attacks + Burning Blade Slash. The combo was shot directly at the magic knight who used Earth’s Protection. He ate every single attack and his health was completely depleted.

He collapsed with an agonizing cry before dropping a piece of bread and pitch-black wristguards. I swiftly collected them and threw them into my inventory. Those wristguards were pretty decent. They were a 3-star Outstanding Spirit-grade piece of equipment after all.

I had lost count of how many times I had heard that system announcement already. But one thing I did know, there weren’t many Heroic Bannermen left on the battlefield!

Vienna’s Sorrow’s figure soon melted into the mass of Northern Alliance players, and it was clear that he was hiding from us now. It was quite possible that the combo attack Beiming Xue and I hit him with had left a shadow in his heart. Beiming Xue’s Broken Feather Arrow prevented its target from being healed for ten seconds. It was extremely deadly when used in combination with my attacks, because my insane Attack was definitely enough to take him out in those ten seconds. He was well aware of this fact, so he would not make any conspicuous movements until he knew that both Beiming Xue and I were dead. After all, invincibility skills had a cooldown of at least 8 hours and some of these cooldowns stretched to as long as 24 hours. As the supreme commander of the Northern Alliance, he couldn’t afford to risk his neck another time!

I turned around and unleashed Burning Blade Slash at a group of enemies. I regained a large amount of HP, pulling my total health back to 75%. I heaved a sigh of relief and glanced at the city walls. My eyes widened instantly and I shouted, “Beiming, be careful! Behind you!”

A Korean fighter was charging towards Beiming Xue with a sword in hand.

He knew this beautiful Chinese archer all too well. After all, she had been the one who had rained death down on their heads while flitting across the walls of Dawn City like a butterfly.

“Die!”

As the fighter thrust his sword towards Beiming Xue, she whirled around and parried his blow with the dagger that had suddenly appeared in her hand. As she leaped back, she quickly swapped the dagger for her Dragonbone String. She immediately unleashed Evil Spirit Volley and Devil Piercing Arrow at the warrior as she continued to retreat, eliciting a furious cry of pain from him. However, he chose to rush toward Beiming Xue instead of retreating, and he lashed out with a Barrier Break the moment he got in range!

Beiming Xue let out a whimper as she quickly swapped back to her dagger. She held it at an oblique angle as she attempted to parry the strike, but she didn’t manage to pull it off perfectly. The warrior’s sword pierced through the crook of her arm and dealt her 16273 damage! Fortunately for her, she managed to reduce the damage of that attack by more than 50%! If not, that Barrier Break would probably have ended her life.

Beiming Xue stretched out her hand and swiped her dagger at that fighter’s throat. She retreated swiftly after and pulled her bowstring, releasing an arrow straight at his mouth. A loud bang rang out as that arrow pierced this mouth and exploded inside it...

I shouted in shock, “Beiming, be careful! The walls are about to collapse…”

A loud explosion rang out as part of the city walls came crashing down. The base of a ten-yard part of the city wall had been destroyed by two catapults, causing the entire section of the wall to be reduced to rubble. As the section of the walls started to collapse, Beiming Xue too fell with the walls.

I urged my mount urgently and rushed toward the falling city walls. Leaping over the collapsing wall, I stretched out a hand to grasp her arm and pulled her into my embrace. Goddamnit! I managed to pull that off and enter the city at the same time!

A tossed stone raises a thousand ripples. Explosions rang out as countless siege towers were destroyed. As the northern city walls came crashing down, so did the players standing on their ramparts. Many players who were unlucky were instantly killed by the collapsing walls.

Gui Guzi stood at the edge of the broken city wall with a look of shock on his face. “Damn it! This city wall is too weak! Boss Broken Halberd, what do we do now?”

I shouted, “Jump down and continue to fight within the city. Dawn City is a tier 2 city! There is another wall within the city!”

Hot and Sour Noodles urged his mount forward and shouted, “That’s right! Everyone, jump down from the ramparts! We will enter the city and continue to defend it! Archers and mages, retreat and defend the inner city wall! Prepare for a second wave! We must defend Dawn City at all costs! Comrades, only a few more hours left on the clock and we’ll be able to finish this mission!”

I asked Hot and Sour Noodles, “Uncle, did we manage to defend the other three sides of the city walls?”

Dawn City was filled with arrow towers that unleashed their steel arrows at our enemies. The city walls blocked the arrow towers within the city from firing. However, now that our enemies were within the city, the arrow towers could shoot their hearts out. Countless arrows rained on the Northern Alliance players, instantly turning the city into a bloodbath.

I brandished my sword and laughed, “Alright, everyone is to surround the arrow towers and defend them! We must not let them anywhere near! We’ll let these bastards have a taste of our powerful, thick, and long…”

Chaos Moon glanced at me with a bashful look. “What did you say?”

I stuck out both hands and waved them frantically, “I didn’t say anything…”

He Yi giggled and said, “Alright, we’ll continue to defend the city. Beiming and Mingyue will stay at that side of the rampart. I don’t think we will be able to hold them off for long…”

Ancient Sword Dreaming Souls had thousands of players still standing. We swiftly made our way to the inner city wall to set up our defense line. However, it was clear that the durability of the inner wall was far from that of the first one and wouldn’t stand for long.

Though their battle formation was a little messy as they charged through the main streets of Dawn City, the force behind their attacks was as powerful as ever. The enemy riders brandished their swords and started to kill any troops within their attack range.

“Defend the arrow towers!”

I brandished my sword and swung it violently at the Northern Alliance players. As they dropped like flies, I quickly turned to another group of enemies and unleashed Burning Blade Slash. With Gui Guzi, He Yi and I guarding the arrow towers, the Northern Alliance players did not even have a chance to advance toward them. Meanwhile, the arrow towers behind us continued to release a fusillade of arrows at our enemies. Thick steel arrows pierced through the Northern Alliance riders’ armors, their blood spilling all over the ground as they collapsed. It was truly a devastating scene to behold.
