TL DR: Two girls fall in love :)

It’s the story of Alliyah, an African American bisexual girl, and Rayne, a Japanese lesbian. The narrative is mostly about their connection with each other and with the world. While Alliyah is a loyal extrovert, whose mouth sometimes gets her in trouble, Rayne is an observant introvert who struggles with the need to belong and the yearn to shield herself from the world.
They find themselves in complicated and uncomfortable situations when, for instance, Alliyah debates whether it’s worth to have a career that makes her miserable; Rayne is forced to confront her family because they were never accepting of her (sexuality and gender-wise). Together they also venture into another country and find themselves in the middle of a life-threatening occurrence.
