In a world overrun with hordes of undead, a small fortress stood as one of the last bastions of the living. The soldiers in the garrison were aware of the undead closing on them and understood their outlook was grim. Rem had prepared himself alongside his comrades for the incoming attack when he was abruptly summoned into another world.

Now Rem is able to use magic for the first time in his life as part of a strange system inherent in his new home, and his daily plans mostly consist of finding a guild quest monster, stabbing it in the face and profiting. His prospects have improved, and he has the opportunity to live a relatively normal life in the pursuit of comfort and happiness! This is the story of Rem not doing that.
