A coalition of political terrorists, nations left behind by the expansion of humanity, and the final remnants of private military forces have begun their last stand against an uncaring universe.
Against them: the newly formed Task Force 31 of the United Nation’s Solar System Defense Force. A band of misfits and irregulars brought together by an ailing Admiral on a legal technicality, the men and women of Task Force 31’s Marauder Team will sink neck deep into an orbital conspiracy that will threaten the very future of the human race.

Meet the mysterious being that has given itself the name Novos. Once an unfortunate reincarnating spirit on Earth, it has now wandered onto a new world full of magic and monsters. This is the story of Celestine's life as witnessed and influenced by the presence of the foreign spirit. Note: This is a rewrite of a previously submitted fiction I posted here. I rewrote it for NaNoWriMo from memory. Feel free to read what I previously wrote, but significant elements have changed. I am leaving that iteration of the story up un-edited for future reference and for anyone curious.

Imagine the greater surprise when he learnt that the new company held the promise of freedom. Not from the constant battle against the Swarm that were also trying to claim the colony planets for their own. Nor from the Crust, the mysterious substance that covered the same planets and held the resources they all fought for. No, the freedom from being oppressed by those with more power and to finally decide where to go and where to set down roots and call home.
