A sentient generation ship slaughters a few hundred thousand passengers. Scientists implant part of her mind into an android to find out why. Things don't quite go as planned, and the android who calls herself Ina Kurosawa joins a crew of scrappy smugglers trying to survive at the edge of humanity's reach.
Deep space is populated by criminals and the disenfranchised alike. Something else is out there, too. The darkness is hungry, and the darkness wants to be worshipped as a god.
