Following planetary devastatation in the aftermath of WWIII, humanity is driven to the brink of extinction as the world is turned into a nuclear wasteland. In order to prevent humanity from being wiped out by the radiation, a large enclosed dome called the Sanctuary was built during WWIII, saving about sixty million people, a small fraction of the world's population.
